Centre for Social Innovation

Changing the Game

On 10 December 2009, the Centre for Social Innovation hosted Christian Bason, Director of MindLab (Denmark) for a day of workshops and seminars with over 120 forward-thinking senior public and private sector managers. Themes emerging included:

  • Innovation as a means to “get more of what we want” – the quadruple bottom line of productivity, service, results and democracy;
  • Focus on citizens and users as the starting point for service transformation
  • Outcome-focused collaboration – across agencies and sectors – as critical

Christian discussed MindLab’s work on the Nine to Noon programme and there was interesting coverage in the Dominion Post.

“Insights from MindLab”: workshop and seminars

December 10, 2009

Internationally, Denmark stands out as a leader in public sector innovation. One of its key vehicles is MindLab, an inter-Governmental unit for citizen-centred innovation. Owned by the Danish Ministries of Economic and Business Affairs, Taxation and Employment, MindLab facilitates innovation processes, including qualitative data collection and field work, design workshops, concept development, prototyping and evaluation. MindLab shares its learnings in workshops and seminars across the public sector in Denmark, the UK and throughout Europe. (www.mind-lab.dk/en)
